Sustainable Markets Initiative China Forum Successfully Held in Beijing

From July 16 to 17, the Sustainable Markets Initiative China Forum was successfully held in Beijing. Yu Jianlong, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Chair of the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI) China Council, and Jennifer Jordan-Saifi, CEO of the Global Council of the SMI, attended the forum and delivered speeches. Representatives from member organizations of the SMI and the China Council engaged in in-depth discussions on key topics such as the business community's joint efforts to address climate change, promote low-carbon development, and maintain stable and smooth industrial and supply chains.

Yu Jianlong stated that implementing the sustainable development agenda is an important consensus in current international development cooperation and a shared responsibility of the global community. Efforts should be further intensified to advance green and low-carbon transformation, contributing actively to the achievement of sustainable development.

Saifi emphasized the importance of the business community working together to advance international cooperation on green and low-carbon initiatives, expressing hope that member organizations of the SMI and the China Council would further expand their collaborative efforts to jointly write a new chapter in a green and low-carbon future.

Bernard Mensah, President of International for Bank of America; Andrew Forrest, Executive Chairman and Founder of Fortescue Metals Group; Greg Jackson, CEO of Octopus Energy Group; and Zhuo Chengwen, Board Secretary of Bank of China, attended the plenary session and delivered speeches. Participants in the parallel forums included Mohamed Kande, Global Chairman of PwC; Sandra Chukwudozie, CEO of Salpha Energy; Iskra Reic, Executive Vice-President, International, AstraZeneca; and Christine Zhou, Global Senior Vice President of Novo Nordisk, as well as representatives from companies such as PetroChina International, China Three Gorges International Corporation, and China Huaneng Group Clean Energy Research Institute.

The forum, co-hosted by the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) and the SMI, was themed "Jointly Building Sustainable Markets for High-Quality Development". Over 300 representatives from renowned enterprises and institutions worldwide attended the event.
