From April 22 to 25, at the invitation of the Mexican Secretariat of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), led a delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs to Mexico City to attend the second ABAC meeting in 2026 and addressed the opening plenary session.
During the meeting, Ren Hongbin met with Eduardo Pedrosa, Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat, as well as ABAC representatives from the United States, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, Canada, and other countries. They held discussions on jointly advancing cooperation initiatives under the APEC “China Year”, contributing high-quality business outcomes for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, and related topics. Ren invited representatives from other member economies to attend the APEC China CEO Forum to be held in Beijing and the fourth China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) in June, and the APEC CEO Summit in Shenzhen in November, to contribute the wisdom and strength of the business community to building an Asia-Pacific community to prosper together.
During his visit, Ren Hongbin also met with Marcelo Ebrard, Mexican Secretary of Economy, Raymundo Vázquez Conchas, President of the Mexico-People’s Republic of China Friendship Group of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Contreras Pérez, President of the Mexican Council for Foreign Trade,Investment and Technology, and other political and business figures. He actively promoted the guiding principles of China’s “Two Sessions” and the vision of the APEC “China Year”, and stressed that China is ready to work with Mexico to encourage their business communities to tap cooperation potential, strengthen coordinated development of industrial and supply chains, jointly uphold free trade and multilateralism, and achieve greater mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
The CCPIT also hosted the China-Mexico Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum during the visit. Enterprises from both sides conducted in-depth exchanges focusing on key areas such as new energy, electronics manufacturing, and infrastructure, resulting in multiple practical cooperation outcomes.
