On November 27, the 4th Singapore-China International Commercial Dispute Resolution Conference was held in Beijing. Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law of Singapore, Liu Guixiang, member of the Judicial Committee of the Supreme People’s Court (vice-minister level) of China, and Justice See Kee Oon, Judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Singapore, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Yu Jianlong, Vice Chairman of the CCPIT, gave the concluding speech at the Conference.

Ren Hongbin pointed out that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China made systematic plans for creating a first-rate business environment that is market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized. It proposed improving the arbitration and mediation system for international commercial disputes and cultivating world-class arbitration organizations and law firms. CCPIT will uphold fundamental principles and break new ground and pursue excellence, continuously strengthening the commercial dispute resolution service system, and enhancing the “golden brand” of foreign-related legal services. CCPIT aims to make greater contributions to supporting the steady operations of Chinese and foreign enterprises and is committed to working with all parties to improve the sophistication, collaboration, and digitalization of international commercial dispute resolution.

Before the conference, Ren Hongbin and Edwin Tong exchanged views on strengthening bilateral legal exchanges and better serving businesses from both countries.

The 4th Singapore-China International Commercial Dispute Resolution Conference was jointly organized by CCPIT, Singapore’s Ministry of Law, and the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization. Attendees engaged in discussions on topics such as legal service support for enterprises expanding internationally, the application of digital technologies in dispute resolution, and optimizing international arbitration. The event was attended by over 300 participants, including representatives from government departments, business associations, trade promotion agencies, business communities, legal scholars, and heads of legal service organizations from both countries.
