2026-02-09

On the afternoon of February 3, the China-Uruguay Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum and 4th China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) Promotion Conference was successfully held in Beijing. Liu Jiannan, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), and Mariana Ferreira, Executive Director of Uruguay XXI, attended the forum and delivered speeches.

Liu Jiannan stated that over the 38 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Uruguay have consistently adhered to mutual respect and equality, achieving fruitful cooperation across all fields. On the morning of February 3, Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Uruguayan President Yamandú Orsi, charting the course for further deepening bilateral relations. The CCPIT is willing to work together with Uruguay XXI and business communities of both countries to implement the important consensus reached at the China-Uruguay heads of state meeting and jointly write a new chapter in bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Ferreira stated that Uruguay offers a superior business environment with stable and transparent policies, free foreign exchange and taxation systems, and well-developed infrastructure, providing multiple benefits such as tax incentives for foreign-invested enterprises. China is Uruguay’s largest trading partner, and the two countries maintain close economic and trade exchanges. Uruguay hopes to take this chance to deepen practical cooperation with China and sincerely invites more Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Uruguay to share development opportunities together.

This forum was co-hosted by CCPIT and Uruguay XXI. Representatives from over 160 Chinese and Uruguayan enterprises in sectors including foreign trade, engineering, finance, telecommunications, and tourism engaged in matchmaking and negotiations. The event was also attended by more than 230 participants, including government officials, business representatives, and media delegates from both countries.
