On June 24, the High-Level Conference on Supply Chain Compliance and Dispute Prevention and Settlement was successfully held in Beijing during the 4th China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE). Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Wang Junfeng, President of the Belt and Road International Lawyers Association (BRILA), Chandi Raj Dhakal, President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Sundra Rajoo, President of the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (AIADR), attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
Ren Hongbin noted that amid profound global changes unseen in a century, the international business community faces new and higher expectations for legal risk prevention and dispute resolution. The CCPIT initiated and promoted the establishment of the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO). Over the past five years, the ICDPASO has provided strong support for global enterprises in protecting their rights, mitigating risks, and enhancing supply chain compliance management through diverse mechanisms, including prevention, mediation and arbitration. He called on all stakeholders to translate the consensus reached at the Conference into concrete actions, enhance services for supply chain compliance management, and drive innovative development in international commercial dispute resolution. He also encouraged active participation in global legal governance and joint efforts to build a global industrial and supply chain partnership underpinned by the rule of law, connectivity and mutual benefits.
Themed “Connecting the World, Advancing Law and Business Together: Building a New Ecosystem for International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement”, the event featured in-depth discussions on two key topics” “Interconnection and Mutual Learning: Establishing and Fostering a Cross-Legal-System Community for Dispute Prevention under Muticultural Contexts” and “Law-Business Synergy: Reshaping the International Commercial Dispute Settlement Landscape and Innovating Collaborative Legal-Services District Ecosystems”.
Liu Jiannan, Chairman of the ICDPASO and Vice Chairman of the CCPIT attended and presided over the opening ceremony. Seven major outcomes were officially unveiled at the Conference, including the release of the Fair Trade Initiative for Global Business Entities and the launch of ICDPASO’s new official website. The event brought together over 200 participants from government agencies, law firms, enterprises, universities, business associations and financial institutions from home and abroad.
