On December 10th, Zhang Shaogang, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), met with Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce in China Julian MacCormac in Beijing.
Zhang Shaogang said that the next year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the UK. China's advantage in market size and the potential of increasing domestic demand will bring more cooperation opportunities to companies from all over the world, including the UK. CCPIT hopes the two sides will further deepen institutional cooperation and work together to upgrade and improve China-UK economic and trade cooperation.
Julian MacCormac said that according to the British Business in China: Sentiment Survey 2021-2022 recently released, challenges facing British businesses include employing foreign staff, implementing laws and regulations on cybersecurity and information technology. Nevertheless, firms are more confident now about prospects in China’s market than they were in 2020. It is well hoped that both sides will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation,
Officials from Department of Bilateral Cooperation of CCOIC were in attendance.
