On September 27, the Global Business and Law Conference 2024 took place in Beijing. At the opening ceremony, Marcelo Vázquez-Bermúdez, Chairman of the United Nations International Law Commission, Liu Guixiang, a standing member of the Supreme People's Court (SPC)'s adjudication committee (vice-minister level), Maria Chiara MALAGUTI, President of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law, Zhao Changhua, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Justice, Shoichi OKUYAMA, President of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, Wang Haihuai, Director and General Manager of China Communications Construction Group CO. LTD., Heather Steinmeyer, Chief Policy Officer of the International Trademark Association, and James Allsop, Former Chief Justice of Australia delivered speeches.
Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), presided over the opening ceremony and released the Beijing Declaration of the Global Business and Law Conference 2024 on behalf of the attended business and legal communities. The Declaration mainly included: Improving the global governance system and jointly building an open economic pattern; Optimizing the global business environment and promoting shared development worldwide; Strengthening the guarantee role of the rule of law and unlocking momentum for industrial innovation; Deepening global legal and business exchanges and expanding international cooperation; Building global consensus for a better future.
The Conference, themed“Strengthening Business and Law Cooperation for Further Global Economic Development”, held three parallel forums on the topics of “Compliance Construction and Business Environment Optimization”, “Dispute Resolution and Global Economic Win-win”, as well as “Intellectual Property and the Development of New Productive Forces”. About 1000 representatives attended the Conference online, including representatives from relevant international organizations, government departments, Chinese and foreign legal service agencies, business associations, enterprises as well as regional and industrial Sub-councils of the CCPIT, and ambassadors to China.
