CCPIT Chairman Ren Hongbin Meets Virtually with CCI of Russia President Sergey Katyrin

On June 2, Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), met via video link with Sergey Katyrin, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation (CCI of Russia) in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening institutional cooperation between the two organizations on bilateral and multilateral platforms.

Ren Hongbin said that the CCPIT has maintained long-term and close cooperation with the CCI of Russia and stands ready to continue working with the CCI of Russia in promoting the development of exhibition industry, cross-border e-commerce, commercial legal services and other fields, so as to build more platforms for pragmatic cooperation between enterprises of the two countries, and strive to achieve the USD 200 billion trade target set by the leaders of the two countries. The CCPIT is fully prepared to cooperate closely with the CCI of Russia within the BRICS and other multilateral mechanisms, give voice to the BRICS business community in deepening the partnership between emerging economies and developing countries, and strengthen coordination within regional cooperation platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), contributing to the development of regional economic and trade cooperation.

Sergey Katyrin congratulated the CCPIT on the 70th anniversary of its founding. He pointed out that the current international situation and the COVID-19 pandemic have impacted the global finance, industrial and supply chains. The CCI of Russia is ready to join hands with the CCPIT to provide targeted and effective services to enterprises of the two countries and work for more achievements in China-Russia economic and trade cooperation under the bilateral and multilateral frameworks. He added that the CCI of Russia would take an active part in the BRICS Business Forum to be held by the CCPIT and he believed that the forum would build broad consensus, injecting new impetus into the stable recovery of world economy.

CCPIT Vice Chairman Zhang Shaogang and officials of relevant departments attended the meeting.
