Liu Jiannan Attends 2026 Entrepreneurs Meeting for Commercial and Economic Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries in Mozambique

From July 22 to 25, Liu Jiannan, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), attended the 2026 Entrepreneurs Meeting for Commercial and Economic Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries in Mozambique.

Co-initiated by the CCPIT, the Agency for the Promotion of Investment and Exports of Mozambique (APIEX), and Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute of the Macao Special Administrative Region (IPIM), the conference was jointly hosted by 11 trade and investment promotion institutions from China and Portuguese-speaking countries. Themed "Investment in Logistics Infrastructure as an Engine for Development", the event gathered more than 350 government and business representatives from the Chinese mainland, Macao, Mozambique and other Portuguese-speaking countries. Over 40 representatives from Chinese mainland enterprises, covering infrastructure engineering, machinery manufacturing, agriculture and forestry, finance and commerce, logistics and transportation, legal services, among others, participated in the matchmaking conference and its supporting events.

Liu Jiannan stated that China and Portuguese-speaking countries feature strong economic complementarity and extensive shared interests in development strategies, resource endowments and industrial structures, with practical needs, natural advantages, and strong internal driving forces for cooperation. China stands ready to expand trade, deepen investment and industrial collaboration with Portuguese-speaking partners, promote integrated development of industrial and supply chains, make the pie of win-win cooperation bigger, and deliver tangible benefits to the people of all countries involved.

During his visit, Liu Jiannan held separate meetings with António do Rosário Grispos, Mozambique’s Secretary of State for Commerce, and Luis Jose Machava, Director General of APIEX. The two sides held in-depth discussions on enhancing high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, sharing high-quality platforms for trade and investment cooperation, and deepening collaboration within the framework of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Forum Macao).

Liu Jiannan also visited China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Mozambique, China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) Mozambique Office, as well as the Maputo-Katembe Bridge and Connecting Line Project.
