On the morning of July 18, the Thematic Event on AI-Powered Biological Manufacturing and Healthcare Industry Chain of the 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) was successfully held in Beijing. The event was attended by Chen Jian’an, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT); Cao Jianlin, former Vice Minister of Science and Technology; Wang Jiangping, former Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology; and Ao Hushan, Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Executive Vice President of the Chinese Society of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesiology, among other distinguished guests.
Chen Jian’an emphasized that artificial intelligence is a key driver of the new wave of technological revolution and industrial transformation, and it is profoundly reshaping the landscape of biological manufacturing and healthcare. The integration of “AI+” in life and health sectors is accelerating the development of a fully integrated ecosystem that connects industry, university, research, and application, serving as a vivid example of how innovation and industrial chains can be seamlessly aligned. He noted that holding this thematic event comes at a critical and timely moment—when a new round of technological and industrial transformation is rapidly unfolding, and frontier AI technologies are thriving—making the event both highly relevant and deeply significant.
Ao Hushan and Cao Jianlin each underscored the vital role of artificial intelligence in advancing the healthcare and biological manufacturing sectors. Wang Jiangping delivered a keynote speech on the topic of “AI Terminal Industry and Ecosystem”, setting the tone for the event by highlighting technological advancement and industrial integration.
During the outcomes release session, Yu Ping, Director of the Electronic Information Research Department at the China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID), shared typical use cases and the latest progress in applying artificial intelligence to the field of biological manufacturing, highlighting the remarkable achievements of AI technologies in practical applications.
During the keynote session, several industry experts shared insights on the cutting-edge applications of AI technology. Fu Xian, Technical Director at GCATbio Co., Ltd., discussed the discovery and optimization of high-performance protein components driven by AI. Wei Xinyu, CTO of Yichang HEC Biochemical Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., presented AI-powered technologies for precision control in biological fermentation processes. Luo Zhaohui, Chief Expert in Biomanufacturing Solutions at Biomap (Beijing) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., introduced how foundation models in life sciences are empowering frontier research and discovery. Additionally, Liu Qian, Deputy Director of the Central Experimental Platform at the Beijing Neurosurgical Institute; Zhang Tengyu, Senior Engineer at the National Rehabilitation Aids Research Center; and Shao Bin, Associate Professor at the Advanced Research Institute of Multidisciplinary Science, Beijing Institute of Technology, delivered presentations on AI applications in neuro-oncology diagnosis and treatment, elderly care and rehabilitation, and genomics research, respectively.
In the roundtable discussion by the end of the event, experts from universities, enterprises, and research institutions engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics such as the practical implementation of AI technology and cross-sector collaboration, focusing on the theme of “AI Technology and Medical Scenario Dialogue”.
The event was co-hosted by the MIIT Key Laboratory of AI Scenario Application and Intelligent System Evaluation and the AI Medical Device Working Group of the Artificial Intelligence Industry Working Committee. Focusing on innovative applications of artificial intelligence in biological manufacturing and healthcare, the event injected new momentum into the high-quality development of AI-powered biological manufacturing and healthcare industry chains.
