CCPIT and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Sign MoU on Promoting Supply Chain Cooperation Between Chinese and Hungarian Enterprises

On the afternoon of May 9, 2024 local time, Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at the Prime Minister’s Office in Budapest, Hungary. After the talks, the two leaders witnessed the exchange of multiple bilateral cooperation documents on the Belt and Road Initiative, economy and trade, investment, science and technology, culture, and agriculture, among others.

CCPIT Chairman Ren Hongbin and Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Promoting Supply Chain Cooperation Between Chinese and Hungarian Enterprises. The two sides stay committed to boosting cooperation between Chinese and Hungarian business communities in the fields of supply chain, new energy vehicles, clean energy, medicine, agriculture, logistics, and infrastructure. The Hungarian side is welcome to participate as a guest country of honor in the upcoming second China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) this year, in order to create more trade and investment opportunities for enterprises from both countries.

During his stay in Hungary, Ren paid a visit to Erik Bánki, Chair of the Committee on Economics of the Hungarian National Assembly, István Joó, CEO of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA), Katalin Bihari, Deputy State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, and László Parragh, President of Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI). He actively introduced to them China’s current economic landscape and its efforts to pursue Chinese modernization through high-quality development, foster new productive forces, and advance high-standard opening up. They had an in-depth exchange of views on deepening economic and trade cooperation between China and Hungary, as well as between China and Central and Eastern European countries. In addition, the Second CISCE Promotion Event was held in Hungary in collaboration with the HCCI.
