2025-09-04

A green industry cooperation platform between China and the SCO was launched in Tianjin on Tuesday, according to CCTV News. The platform aims to deepen dialogue, promote project cooperation, and strengthen the alignment of green standards. Specific initiatives include promoting the integrated development of green industrial supply chains, implementing major collaborative projects, and facilitating joint research and development and the application of advanced green technologies.

Currently, green industries are gradually becoming an important driving force for economic transformation and sustainable development in SCO countries. China will continue to work with all member states to jointly promote a new pattern of green, high-quality and sustainable SCO development, according to CCTV News.

At the "SCO Plus" meeting in Tianjin on Monday, the Chinese side announced that it will establish three major platforms for China-SCO cooperation in energy, green industry, and the digital economy, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

As a global leader in renewable energy, China possesses advanced technologies and extensive construction experience in photovoltaics and wind power. China has been collaborating with other SCO countries rich in sunlight and wind resources to promote the development of renewable energy, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

In March 2025, Uzbekistan's 1-gigawatt Bukhara Wind Power Project - the largest single wind power project in Central Asia - was fully connected to the grid. Constructed by several Chinese companies, it is expected to generate 3.59 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, about 7 percent of Uzbekistan's total power output. It will also reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.6 million tons a year, according to Xinhua.
