Israeli imports of goods from China up 31.45 pct in January-April

2025-05-22

JERUSALEM, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Israeli imports of goods from China rose by 31.45 percent year-on-year in the first four months of 2025, according to data released by Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday.

Israeli imports from China totaled 4.43 billion U.S. dollars from January to April, up from 3.37 billion dollars during the same period last year.

This extends the upward trend seen in 2024, when Israeli imports from China totaled 13.53 billion dollars, up from 11.29 billion dollars in 2023.

An article published Monday by the Israeli Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) noted that Israel aligns with a broader global pattern of countries that boosted imports from China last year.

INSS researcher Tomer Fadlon, the author of the article, attributed the sharp increase to China's export efforts and internal developments in Israel.

He noted that private consumption in Israel rebounded in 2024 after declining in 2023, largely due to the government's controversial judicial reform and the outbreak of a multi-front conflict.

Fadlon emphasized that Chinese imports have demonstrated their great value in mitigating the cost of living in Israel.

According to the data, China maintained its position as Israel's leading source of imports, surpassing the United States, which exported goods worth 3.32 billion dollars to Israel in the first four months of 2025.

Israel's primary imports from China include electrical equipment, electric vehicles, machinery, and clothing.

Israeli exports to China amounted to 747.7 million dollars in the first four months of this year, a 27.7 percent decline from 1.03 billion dollars during the same period last year.
