On July 17, the Business Forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was held in Beijing. Gao Yunlong, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the Forum.
Gao Yunlong noted that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is currently the largest regional international organization in the world in terms of coverage area and population, with economic and trade cooperation serving as a powerful engine for its vigorous development. China is willing to work hand in hand with all parties to continuously deepen the alignment of regional development strategies, enhance the quality and upgrading of SCO economic and trade cooperation, safeguard the stable flow of industrial and supply chains, promote the building of a closer SCO community with a shared future, and further contribute to lasting world peace and common prosperity.
Li Qingshuang, Vice Chairperson of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), presided over the opening ceremony and released the Research Report on Supply Chain Development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The Report, developed through consultations with the business councils of SCO member states, outlines consensus-based policy recommendations, including strengthening the regulatory foundations for regional cooperation, building efficient and interconnected infrastructure networks, optimizing the business environment for investment and innovation, accelerating digital and green transformation, and improving risk early-warning and emergency response mechanisms.
Hosted by CCPIT, the Forum carried the theme "Upholding the Shanghai Spirit: Industry and Commerce Community in Action." Concurrently, two thematic discussions were held on "Promoting Green Energy Transition to Strengthen the Foundation for Sustainable Development" and "Deepening Connectivity to Ensure Stable and Smooth Industrial and Supply Chains," alongside business matchmaking sessions. Nearly 400 representatives from government departments, embassies in China, business associations, and enterprises of SCO member states, observer states, and dialogue partners attended the event on site.
