2024-11-29

The opening ceremony of the 2nd China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) was held in Beijing on November 26. Chinese Vice President Han Zheng attended and addressed the opening ceremony.

Han Zheng stated that as President Xi Jinping pointed out, maintaining the resilience and stability of global industrial and supply chains is a vital guarantee for promoting the development of the world economy. China has long been not only a participant and beneficiary, but also a staunch defender and builder in global industrial and supply chain cooperation, who has made positive contributions to the growth of the world economy. China continues to improve its industrial system, providing strong guarantee for the operation of global industrial and supply chains; China adheres to openness and cooperation, injecting continuous momentum into the operation of global industrial and supply chains; and with its incredibly vast market, China provides ample room for the operation of global industrial and supply chains. China is willing to work with all countries to jointly build an open world economy and keep global industrial and supply chains stable and unimpeded.

Han Zheng put forward three proposals. First, China will strengthen cooperation and the division of labor to promote mutual benefit and win-win outcomes in global industrial and supply chains. China will adhere to the right course of economic globalization and enhance business and industrial capacity cooperation with other countries for a positive interplay among industries, shared benefits, and win-win development. Second, China will highlight the leading role of innovation in facilitating the optimization and upgrading of global industrial and supply chains. China will deepen its innovation-driven development strategy, accelerate the development of new quality productive forces, and create a broader space for cooperation concerning deep integration of industrial and supply chains. Third, China intends to achieve sustainable development and promote the green transformation of global industrial and supply chains. China is willing to work with all countries to expand cooperation in areas such as the green industry and clean energy, so as to boost global green development.

Han Zheng then announced the opening of the 2nd China International Supply Chain Expo.

Following the opening ceremony, Han Zheng inspected the CISCE exhibition halls, visited exhibition areas such as Digital Technology Chain, Clean Energy Chain, and Advanced Manufacturing Chain, and spoke with relevant business leaders.

Chinese Minister of Industry and Information Technology Jin Zhuanglong and Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, participated in the above events.

Peter Szijjarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, John W.H. Denton AO, Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce, Jakob Stausholm, Chief Executive of Rio Tinto, Sean Stein, incoming President of the US-China Business Council, and Li Fanrong, Chairman of Sinochem Holdings, delivered speeches at the ceremony. More than 1,300 representatives of politics, business and academia from nearly 100 countries and regions, and international organizations attended the opening ceremony.

Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), hosted the opening ceremony. He stated that the CISCE serves as a bridge for industrial integration, innovative promotion and market connectivity among countries around the world. This year's CISCE is more internationalized, has deeper exchanges and cooperation, and features a more prominent leading role of innovation than the first CISCE. Representatives from Chinese and foreign industrial and commercial sectors engage in in-depth discussions about international cooperation in industrial and supply chains. We welcome more industrial and commercial enterprises from more countries to leverage the "chain" to collaborate on the development of a global industrial and supply chain system that is safe, stable, smooth, efficient, open, inclusive, win-win, and mutually beneficial. CCPIT will strengthen its functions of connecting government and businesses, integrating domestic and international resources, and facilitating supply and demand, while also firmly maintaining the public product attributes of industrial and supply chains, and making greater contributions to promoting the construction of an open world economy and a community with a shared future for mankind.

At the opening ceremony, CCPIT and representatives from industrial and commercial sectors jointly released "the Beijing Initiative for International Cooperation on Industrial and Supply Chains".

CCPIT hosts the 2nd CISCE from November 26 to 30, with the theme "Connecting the World for a Shared Future". Five international organizations – the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the International Chamber of Commerce – have joined as supporters. Hubei is the guest Province of Honor, with Hungary as the guest Country of Honor at the expo. With an exhibition area of 120,000 square meters, this year's CISCE has 6 key industrial chains and 1 exhibition area: Advanced Manufacturing Chain, Clean Energy Chain, Smart Vehicle Chain, Digital Technology Chain, Healthy Life Chain, Green Agriculture Chain and Supply Chain Services Area. 620 enterprises and institutions showcase new technologies, products, and services in key links in the upstream, midstream and downstream of the chains, involving 69 countries, regions, and international organizations, with foreign exhibitors accounting for 32% of total exhibitors.
