A Beijing initiative, which aims to promote stable and smooth global supply chains, was released on Tuesday at the opening ceremony of the second China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE).
The Beijing Initiative for International Cooperation on Industrial and Supply Chains covers five major aspects, including promoting open cooperation in global industrial and supply chains, advancing digital connectivity, boosting green and low-carbon development, improving industrial and supply chain services, and harnessing the unique role of the business community.
"We advocate for practicing true multilateralism, enhancing trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, opposing protectionism, and enhancing international industrial specialization and collaboration," said the initiative, calling for efforts to "foster integrated development of industries and to deepen integration of supply and demand so as to maintain stable and unimpeded industrial and supply chains and strive for a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization."
"Keeping abreast of technological and industrial advancements, we advocate for integrating the real economy better with the digital economy and cultivating new quality productive forces. We encourage the transfer and application of digital technologies to fully tap the potential of the digital economy and cross-border e-commerce and actively explore and support the industrial application of artificial intelligence," it noted.
"We advocate for accelerating development of international logistics systems and urge governments to enhance cooperation in port and transportation logistics, expand multimodal transport networks, advance the digitalization and green transformation of logistics, and build intelligent logistics networks," it added.
It also encouraged the global business community to leverage platforms such as CISCE to deepen practical cooperation and to build common understanding and mutual trust among nations.
The second CISCE, the world's first national-level exhibition focused on supply chains, opened from Tuesday to Saturday in Beijing. The expo provides a comprehensive platform for business matchmaking and investment opportunities, fostering collaboration across a diverse range of industries.
Themed "Connecting the World for a Shared Future," this year's event emphasizes the interconnected nature of the supply chain through its booth layout and exhibition zones, offering a comprehensive showcase of key processes across the entire supply chain from upstream to downstream.
