On November 11, 2025, the China-Spain Business Forum was successfully held in Chengdu. King Felipe VI of Spain attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Shi Xiaolin, Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, and Carlos Cuerpo Caballero, Minister of Economy, Trade and Business attended the event and delivered speeches.
In his speech, Ren focused on the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), stressing that this year marks the 20th anniversary of China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership. Ren added that the CCPIT, as China's largest national foreign trade and investment promotion agency, is ready to work with relevant institutions to implement the important consensus reached by the two leaders, build high-quality platforms for the business communities of China and Spain to expand all-round cooperation and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, pushing the partnership to a new level.
The forum was co-hosted by the CCPIT, Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior, Confederación Española de Organizaciones Empresariales and Cámara de Comercio de España. About 400 participants, including government officials from both countries, representatives of business associations and chambers of commerce, and business representatives from Chinese and Spanish enterprises, attended the forum in person and participated in thematic discussions as well as business matchmaking sessions.
During their stay in Chengdu, Ren and Shi signed a Memorandum on deepening cooperation, attended the promotion event for the China International Supply Chain Expo, and visited local enterprises for research.
