On June 29th, Gao Yan, Chairperson of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), met in Beijing with Dr. Jonathan K. S. Choi, Member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, and Chairman of Hong Kong-based Sunwah Group. The two sides exchanged views on issues such as promoting Hong Kong's integration into China's new development paradigm, promoting the participation of enterprises from both sides in regional economic cooperation, and facilitating Hong Kong's accession to the RCEP.

Gao Yan said that since the enactment and implementation of the Law of People's Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in Hong Kong Special Administration Region (HKSAR),the central government has further implemented the principle of "patriots governing Hong Kong" in terms of institutions and mechanisms, so as to effectively ensure the steady and long-term implementation of "one country, two systems" in Hong Kong. With the implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan, steady progress in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the smooth signing and entry into force of the RCEP, Hong Kong's economy will enjoy greater room for development. The CCPIT stands ready to further strengthen cooperation with Hong Kong's industrial and business communities, support them and professionals in playing a bigger role in China's high-level opening-up, and help Hong Kong better integrate into the overall development of the country.

Dr. Jonathan K. S. Choi introduced the Bohai Bay Area Entrepreneurs Union which the Sunwah Group is leading to build. He expressed his readiness to further strengthen cooperation, make full use of the advantages of the CCPIT in connecting enterprises, and give full play to the important role of platforms such as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Entrepreneurs Union and the Bohai  Bay Area  Entrepreneurs Union in promoting practical cooperation among enterprises, achieving coordinated industrial development and promoting regional economic integration, so as to make greater contribution to high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
