China-PNG Business Roundtable Successfully Held in Guangzhou

On April 29th, the China-Papua New Guinea Business Roundtable was held in Guangzhou successfully. James Marape, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. Liu Jiannan, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), also attended and addressed the event.

Liu Jiannan stated that this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Papua New Guinea. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China-PNG ties have maintained a strong momentum of development. The CCPIT is ready to work with the Investment Promotion Authority of PNG to tap the potential for trade growth, unleash the driving force for investment cooperation, strengthen communication on multilateral platforms, and jointly write a new chapter in bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

The Roundtable was co-hosted by the CCPIT and the Investment Promotion Bureau of PNG, and co-organized by the CCPIT Guangdong Committee and the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC). More than 250 representatives of Chinese and PNG enterprises from agriculture, energy, infrastructure, telecommunications, tourism and other fields held matchmaking discussions. Over 300 participants, including government officials, business representatives and media from both countries, attended the event.
