On September 2nd, Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), attended the 5th Belt and Road Forum for Traditional Chinese Medicine Development in Beijing and delivered a speech.

Ren Hongbin said that in recent years, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) cooperation has played a great role in areas such as healthcare, economy and trade, science and technology as well as culture, which has become a key area of the Belt and Road sci-tech innovation cooperation and major component of pursuing high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). As for deepening Belt and Road cooperation on TCM, he put forward three suggestions. First, boost exchanges, cooperation and policy coordination, and contribute "Chinese solutions" and "Chinese wisdom" to building a global community of health for all. Second, build services platforms, ensure unimpeded trade and expand TCM trade among BRI participating countries and regions. Third, strengthen mutual learning, and deepen people-to-people ties and improve the well-being of people of BRI participating countries through TCM cooperation.

Hosted by the CCPIT, National Administration of TCM, Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and People's Government of Beijing Municipality, supported by the National Medical Products Administration, and with the theme of "Continuously Deepening Belt and Road Cooperation on TCM", the forum was joined by more than 200 people including domestic and foreign government officials, foreign diplomatic envoys, as well as experts, scholars and entrepreneurs in the field of TCM.
