2022-06-21

On June 2nd, Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), met in Beijing via video link with Robson Braga de Andrade, President of the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI). The two sides exchanged views on promoting bilateral and multilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Ren Hongbin said that China and Brazil are each other's comprehensive strategic partners, and China-Brazil practical economic and trade cooperation has grown against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, which fully demonstrates the strong resilience of bilateral cooperation. The CCPIT stands ready to work with the CNI to build platforms for practical cooperation between enterprises of the two countries, expand commercial legal services and economic and trade research cooperation, and strengthen communication and coordination under BRICS, G20 and other multilateral mechanisms, so as to jointly safeguard the interests of emerging markets and developing countries. China takes over the BRICS chairmanship this year, and the CCPIT will host the BRICS Business Forum in June. It's hoped that the CNI and representatives of Brazilian entrepreneurs will participate in the forum to gather consensus on cooperation and share development opportunities.

Andrade spoke highly of the important role played by the CCPIT in promoting China-Brazil economic and trade relations and expressed his willingness to further deepen pragmatic exchanges in various fields and cooperate in more affairs with the CCPIT to make more contributions to safeguarding the multilateral trading system and promoting the reform of the global economic governance system. Also, he expressed confidence that the BRICS Business Forum will inject new impetus into the stable recovery of the world economy in the post-COVID-19 era.

Zhang Shaogang, Vice Chairman of the CCPIT, and other CCPIT officials also attended the meeting.
