XIAMEN, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- China's Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Lecheng on Tuesday said that the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center, located in Xiamen in east China and established by China in 2020, has made noteworthy progress over the past five years.
Speaking at the BRICS Forum on Partnership on New Industrial Revolution 2025, Li said the innovation center has carried out cooperation in policy coordination, talent training and project development -- becoming the first practical cooperation project under the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution framework.
In the course of the past five years, the center has upheld the BRICS spirit of openness, inclusiveness and win-win cooperation, producing a number of landmark outcomes, which include hosting the annual forum, building a BRICS customs demonstration center, co-establishing a digital economy research center and accelerating joint technology development among BRICS countries.
Li said that in the face of intensified global competition in science and technology and profound changes in the industrial landscape, BRICS countries and other developing nations should give full play to their unique advantages in markets, resources and industries -- and strengthen policy coordination, technological cooperation and ecosystem construction.
Li also said BRICS countries should keep pace with technological change, strengthen policy and regulatory coordination, and promote digital infrastructure interconnectivity.
He called on BRICS countries to improve the efficiency of resource and energy use, jointly advance green and sustainable industrial development, unswervingly share opportunities through openness -- and safeguard the security, stability and smooth operation of global industrial and supply chains.
The BRICS Forum on Partnership on New Industrial Revolution 2025, focusing on unleashing the potential of international cooperation to achieve inclusive and sustainable industrialization, is being held in Xiamen in Fujian Province on Tuesday and Wednesday.
