On July 15, the 2025 Chinese Mainland-Hong Kong Chambers of Commerce Joint Conference convened in Beijing. Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Wingco Lo Kam-wing, President of the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA), Jonathan Choi Koon-shum, Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC), Hong Kong, Agnes Chan, Chairperson of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC), and Anthony Lam, Executive Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI), attended the event and delivered speeches. Representatives from trade promotion agencies and business organizations from both the mainland and Hong Kong S.A.R. participated.
Ren Hongbin noted that this meeting marks the first time since the establishment of the Joint Conference mechanism in 2001 that it has been held in the mainland, which is of great significance. Hong Kong, as a vital international financial, shipping, and trade hub, serves as a critical bridge connecting the mainland to global markets. It boasts unique strengths in finance, services, and high-tech industries. By combining the brand influence, distribution networks, and technological expertise of Hong Kong enterprises with the mainland’s robust industrial ecosystem, both sides can jointly deliver more high-quality products and services, enhancing their global competitiveness. The conference was held on the eve of the 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE). Ren expressed his hope that businesses from both China’s mainland and Hong Kong would leverage this platform and the upcoming CISCE to strengthen collaboration in the technology industry, better align supply and demand, and achieve mutual success and common development.
During the conference, representatives from trade promotion bodies, chambers of commerce, and enterprises in the mainland and Hong Kong engaged in in-depth exchanges of views and discussions on deepening collaboration in science and technology innovation and supply chain coordination, further harnessing Hong Kong’s unparalleled strengths, encouraging business communities on both sides to jointly explore new opportunities presented by the international market, and supporting Hong Kong’s integration into the country’s overall development, among other issues.
