On January 18th, CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan met online with Chakib Alj, President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM). The two sides exchanged views on promoting economic and trade exchanges between China and Morocco and strengthening institutional cooperation. The two sides renewed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation between CCPIT and CGEM.
Gao Yan said that China and Morocco have a long history of exchanges, and the strategic partnership between the two countries has pointed out the direction for deepening practical economic and trade cooperation. In recent years, Moroccan business community have actively participated in major institutional economic and trade activities such as Belt and Road Initiative, Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. China and Morocco have close exchanges in various fields. CCPIT is willing to take the opportunity of renewing the MOU to join hands with CGEM to create a better environment for the Moroccan business community to participate in the new process of China’s development. CCPIT welcomes the Moroccan side to participate in the Entrepreneur Conference under the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, Conference of China and Africa Entrepreneurs and other activities that will be held by the CCPIT this year.
Chakib Alj spoke highly of the economic and trade cooperation between China and Morocco since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1958, and hoped that the renewal of the MOU will provide better opportunities for enterprises of the two countries to create, develop trade and seek investment. Mehdi Laraki, Chairman of the Chinese Business Council of Morocco, introduced the work of the Council in promoting trade and investment exchanges between the two countries, and hoped to deepen the win-win cooperation in information and experience sharing, promoting tripartite cooperation between enterprises of the two countries in the future.
CCPIT Vice Chairman Zhang Shaogang, officials from Department of International Relations of CCPIT and bilateral Department of CCOIC were in attendance.
