CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan, Transfers the Letter from President Xi Jinping to Howard Schultz, Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors of Starbucks

On January 14th, CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan met with Julia Zhu, Vice President of Starbucks China. Gao Yan, transferred the original letter from President Xi Jinping to Howard Schultz, Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors of Starbucks to Julia Zhu. They exchanged views on issues like China-US economic and trade relations and the development of Starbucks in China.

Gao Yan said that Xi’s reply to Mr. Schultz demonstrates that China has attached great importance to the US-funded enterprises in China, and highly recognizes Mr. Schultz and Starbucks’ active participation in China’s economic construction and reform and opening-up. As always, CCPIT would like to provide all-dimensional and multi-layered services for companies from all over the world, including Starbucks. It’s hoped that Starbucks would continue to be the pioneer among foreign-owned enterprises, grow vigorously in China and make active efforts to promote China-US economic and trade cooperation and the development of bilateral relations.

Julia Zhu said that Mr. Schultz and Starbucks were highly encouraged and excited to know that Xi made a reply personally. Therefore, they hope to further promote the friendly cooperation between China and U.S. as a non-governance force. Starbucks pays high attention to the Chinese market and has confidence in its economic prospects. Starbucks will seize opportunities, expand the Chinese market and firmly proceed with support and promotion for China-US economic and trade cooperation.

Zhang Shaogang, Vice Chairman of CCPIT, and officials of Department of Development Research, Department of  International Relations, Department of Trade and Investment Promotion, Department of Legal Affairs of CCPIT, and Department of Bilateral Cooperation of China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) were also in attendance.
