On September 5th, the Forum on Facilitation of Trade in Services in the Perspective of Multinationals was held during the 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) in Beijing, China. Gao Yan, Chairperson of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Zhang Junkuo, Vice President of Development Research Center of the State Council, Zhang Jiaming, Vice Mayor of Beijing and other guests attended the Forum and delivered speeches.
Gao Yan said that the world today is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century. The COVID-19 epidemic is still spreading around the world, the global economy remains sluggish, and trade in services is facing unprecedented challenges. The service sector is a new engine and a new direction for the world economic recovery. It is of great significance to improve the facilitation of trade in services and promote its recovery and development. We should promote the facilitation of trade in services through opening up and cooperation, stimulate new momentum by innovative development, and deepen international cooperation on trade in services in mutual benefit and win-win situation. Multinationals are playing an increasingly important role in promoting international cooperation on trade in services, exploring new forms and models of development, and promoting the facilitation of trade in services. CCPIT is willing to work with all parties to build more platforms and provide all-round services for exchanges and cooperation between domestic and foreign enterprises, thus making greater contribution to the development of trade in services and the recovery of the world economy.
Co-hosted by the Development Research Center of the State Council, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Beijing Municipal People's Government, this forum consists of speeches and dialogues surrounding the topics such as "the roles multinationals play in China’s promoting liberalization and facilitation of global trade in services," "introducing new measures for higher-level opening-up and creating a good international business environment" and encourages multinationals to make full advantages of the global layout, spare no effort to build China an economic and trade power, and accelerate the business development with high quality. 200 delegates, including domestic and foreign experts, scholars, representatives from relevant institutions and multinationals attended the event.
On September 4th, Gao Yan also attended the CIFTIS Global Trade in Services Summit co-hosted by Chinese Ministry of Commerce and Beijing Municipal People's Government.
