CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan met with CGCC President Jonathan Choi Koon-shum

CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan met with Jonathan Choi Koon-shum, President of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (CGCC) in Beijing on May 29. The two sides spoke highly of the third session of the 13th National People's Congress and the third session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference which were recently concluded, and discussed in depth topics including strengthening further cooperation, innovating working methods, and promoting cooperation between companies of the two sides to jointly build the Belt and Road and the Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Greater Bay Area with high quality.

Gao Yan said, “The success of this year's two sessions against a special background is of great significance. The pass of China’s Civil Code and the NPC Decision on Establishing and Improving the Legal System and Enforcement Mechanisms for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to Safeguard National Security will especially enhance the law-based governance, ensure the ‘one country, two systems’ principle progresses smoothly and far and provide a strong guarantee for the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong. It will also create more opportunities for the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong to comprehensively deepen mutually beneficial cooperation. We hope that the Hong Kong business community will seize the great opportunity of jointly constructing the Belt and Road and the Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Greater Bay Area, plan and participate actively, give full play to Hong Kong’s advantages, and constantly consolidate and enhance its status of the ‘Triple Hubs’.”

Jonathan Choi Koon-shum introduced the work of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong (CGCC) in recent years in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, especially the specific measures to promote the participation of Hong Kong's business community in the development of the Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Greater Bay Area. He expressed the hope to further strengthen the cooperation between CCPIT and CGCC, fully mobilize the advantages of resource in the respects of trade and investment promotion and commercial legal services, and serve the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong enterprises to better participate in the development of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Greater Bay Area so that the two sides can further promote economic and trade cooperation and contribute to economic development, social harmony as well as stability of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong.
