On 20 March, CCPIT held an online meeting to help staff of Chinese-funded enterprises living overseas cope with pandemic related psychological crisis and emotional management. CCPIT invited Dr. Lu Min, Institute of Psychology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, to communicate with expatriate officials and staffs of CCPIT overseas representative offices, Chinese embassies and consulates as well as Chinese enterprises. More than 200 representatives from 125 Chinese institutions in 27 countries and regions attended the meeting.

Dr. Lu Min introduced in detail how to judge psychological stress response and adjust oneself accordingly. Taking into account the trend of pandemic development overseas and the nature of the work, he addressed that staff should eliminate negative emotions, boost mental health, prevent, reduce and control the psychological harm caused by the pandemic outbreak by strengthening social connection, obtaining information from the right channels, adjusting life style, encouraging positive thinking and other methods.

The meeting was highly appreciated by the participants. Participants from the Economic and Commercial Counselor's Office of the Chinese Embassy in France said, under the situation of multiple outbreaks in the world, the meeting was held in time with strong pertinence. It can help the expatriates to stabilize their mood, adjust their mentality and cope with the pandemic. According to Seoul Branch of China Construction Bank and European Branch of Tencent Cloud, the meeting effectively alleviated the panic and anxiety caused by the recent pandemic outbreak, and made people understand the basic methods of psychological adjustment. Participants from the Korea Branch of Sinotrans, Chile branch of Sinotruk and Paris Branch of China Construction Bank said, “this meeting is in line with the focus of overseas staff. We will face the pandemic more rationally and calmly. We hope that CCPIT will hold such activities regularly.” Participants from overseas representative offices of CCPIT have expressed that they will hold a winning attitude, continue to work on the front-line, adhere to the prevention and control effort and business development to ensure a sound “zero infection” situation and strive to complete all the targets set for this year.

The meeting was a practical measure taken by CCPIT to implement the requirements of scientific prevention and control, provide humanistic care for expatriates, and enrich the means of serving overseas Chinese enterprises. By helping the staff of overseas representative offices and Chinese enterprises to relieve anxiety, eliminate panic, and stabilize their mental state, the meeting has built a psychological defense line for them to fight against the pandemic. Once more, CCPIT has laid a solid psychological foundation for the prevention and control of the pandemic.
