CCPIT Supports Overseas Chinese Businesses to Fight the Pandemic

2020-04-10

At present, the spread of the local epidemic in China, with Wuhan as the main battleground, has been effectively controlled, but the global pandemic is still spreading, which brings great challenges to overseas Chinese enterprises. In this regard, CCPIT takes the initiative to implement multiple measures to help overseas Chinese enterprises to fight the pandemic.

Conduct research and offer advice and suggestions on behalf of the businesses. CCPIT actively contacts with overseas Chinese enterprises to understand the impact of the outbreak and their prevention and control measures, reflects their demands to the respective local governments, and promotes the resolution of issues facing them. CCPIT representative office in South Korea has voiced the demands of Chinese enterprises in South Korea such as a tax reduction to the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), hoping it can help solve the practical difficulties that Chinese enterprises in South Korea face.

Utilize the information platform of the overseas offices to provide guidance and support for enterprises to prevent and control the outbreak. A number of CCPIT overseas representative offices, leveraging their competitive function as the secretariats of the local Chinese business chambers and associations, are conveying messages from Chinese embassy and consulates to the Chinese enterprises, promoting information on pandemic prevention and control, collecting local information on the pandemic, passing on news and policies adopted by respective governments to the local businesses, all of which are steps taken to help the enterprises to make decisions, reduce losses and better protect their employees.

Unite resources from home and abroad to help businesses to tackle practical problems. The CCPIT overseas offices proactively gather the material demands of the overseas Chinese enterprises and timely pass on the demands to the national and regional CCPIT offices, leverage the strength of the national CCPIT system to assist the enterprises to procure supplies needed, and joint hands with overseas enterprises to fight the pandemic.

Strengthen the humanistic care for overseas staff. CCPIT recently held a seminar on psychological crisis response and emotional management during the pandemic for staff working in Chinese-funded institutions overseas. The seminar invited Dr. Lu Min, Institute of Psychology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, to talk with employees from representative offices, embassies and consulates, and Chinese-funded enterprises abroad. The seminar was set to help the overseas employees with potential problems including anxiety, panic and unstable mental state. The key is to build a psychological defense line, unite forces, and lay a solid psychological foundation to winning the battle against the pandemic.

In addition, CCPIT is actively carrying out public diplomacy work to create a good business environment for overseas Chinese enterprises. CCPIT sent letters of support to the major business chambers and associations counterparts in Italy, South Korea, Japan, Iran and other countries, expressing the will to strengthen collaborations, react to the impact of the pandemic positively, further open bilateral economic and trade channels, and work together to overcome the outbreak.
