CCPIT Ensures the Transit Point at New CIEC Runs Smoothly

2020-04-10

To better cope with the increasing risk of imported infection, the new China International Exhibition Center (new CIEC), operated and managed by the CIEC Group - a subsidiary of CCPIT, has been used as the transit point for inbound passengers in Beijing since 10 March. CCPIT has been cooperating fully with the city of Beijing to provide high-quality services and contribute to the prevention and control of the pandemic.

CCPIT resolutely implements the guiding spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s directive on the direct relationship between the security and stability of the capital and that of the Party and the country, attaches great importance to the work of ensuring the service support of the transit point, and establishes a task force on timely service support to ensure the operation of a 24-hour non-stop transit point. On 09 March, the task force performed a large amount of work, including mobilizing urgently needed human and material resources, arranging the staff office area and transfer registration area overnight, and setting up enclosed area guardrails, equipment and facilities checks, water and electricity connections, surveillance cameras and wireless networks installations. The task force worked for dozen hours straight to complete the road, electricity, water and internet connectivity, laying a solid foundation for the opening of the transit point.

In order to alleviate the traffic pressure on the perimeter of the new CIEC, the task force also opened the W1 and W2 parking lots to help optimize parking spots and adjust vehicle driving routes. The Gate 5 of the new CIEC perimeter was swiftly reconstructed, road guardrails were set up to divert pedestrians and vehicle flows.

The task force continues to optimize its services to comfort the transiting passengers by setting up sofas, televisions and wi-fi services, providing a relaxing environment for people in the transit point.

Lin Shunjie, Party Committee Secretary of CIEC Group, said that the transit point is taking up the W4, E4 Hall and the North Hall of the new CIEC, an area of about 30,000 square meters. In order to enhance the transit capacity of Beijing, the new CIEC stands ready to continue to provide venues unconditionally. "CIEC Group will further strengthen the transit point protection measures to ensure that services are in place in these newly added venues to combat the pandemic.”

It is reported that the inbound passengers are picked up and dropped off at the transit point by dedicated vehicles and personnel, which makes it by nature different from the medical isolation points and the temporary treatment centers. The transit point will not affect the lives of the surrounding residents. The new CIEC performs disinfecting treatment for its surrounding areas every three hours.

According to Lin, the new CIEC was urgently requisitioned as a transit point, no changes were made to the structure, facilities and equipment in the venue, only optimization of the existing setup was taken to better facilitate the pandemic prevention measures. Once the new CIEC finishes its job as the transit point, Beijing will carry out a comprehensive disinfection of the venues. The new CIEC will immediately resume to the right conditions for exhibitions, and the businesses and the public shall not be concerned about the safety of the new CIEC.
