The fight against COVID-19 continues to carry on, and the international community has been paying close attention to and expressing support to China’s epidemic prevention and control effort. As of March 2, 135 close partners of CCPIT and CCOIC, including international organizations, foreign counterparts, business chambers and associations, international arbitration institutions, have expressed their concerns and support to China’s combat against the epidemic. They conveyed their confidence on the victory over the disease in China through letters, telephones, videos, and other ways including issuing initiatives and publishing open letters.
Appreciation to China’s Effort in Combating the Epidemic
International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Chairman Paul Polman applauded the actions of Chinese Government and the medical corps, as well as the joint effort made by many entities and organizations. “Hold on tight, partners, friends in China, and those who work in solidarity to fight this crisis around the world. Zhong Guo Jia You!” said Mr. Polman in the video.
China-Britain Business Council Chief Executive Matthew Rous, on behalf of the members and employees of the Council, expressed his appreciation to Chinese people for their unremitting efforts during the outbreak and especially to the front-line medical staff for their courage and fearlessness. He also wrote in the letter that “China will become stronger from this experience and that China-British relations will continue to grow and prosper.”
President and CEO of the United States Council for International Business (USCIB) Peter Robinson expressed USCIB’s deep concern about the outbreak of COVID-19 in China. He stressed in the letter “Viruses are blind to borders” and “the international business community should adopt cooperative, scientific and fact-based precautions to combat the virus and ensure that world business continues unabated throughout this crisis”.
Brazil-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry Secretary General Uta Schweitzer expressed that tremendous efforts had been made by the Chinese government to control the epidemic, and many Brazilian entrepreneurs had shown their confidence in the Chinese government and support for Chinese people.
Standing Firmly with China
Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau (the Bureau) Chief Operating Officer Omar Shehad expressed his sympathy and support to all families suffering from the epidemic and wished the patients soon be restored to health. He also said that in this difficult period, he and the Bureau would stand firmly with Chinese people.
Chairman of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Gholamhossein Shafei expressed that the business community of Iran would be standing firmly with China at the time when China spares no effort in combating the epidemic, and he wished for the victory over the epidemic and well-being of the Chinese people.
Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce Secretary General Alaa Ezz sent good wishes and sincere greetings to the Chinese people on behalf of 44 national chambers of commerce and industry in Africa and 4.2 million members of Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce. He said “Egypt and the African business community will stand together with the Chinese people and support China’s fight against COVID-19.”
President of Belgian Centre for Arbitration and Mediation Dirk De Meulemeester wrote in the letter that “China has been undergoing a tough time combating the COVID 19, so have been other countries in the world. You are not alone for this battle and we will always stand by your side.”
Confidence in China’s Victory over the Epidemic
Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Dimitri Kerkentzes expressed that he had witnessed the great effort the Chinese government had made and been impressed by the capability of the Chinese government. He was confident that Chinese people would persevere and get the final victory. “At this difficult time,” he said, “BIE will give China its full support.”
President of International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property(AIPPI)Renata Righetti appreciated China’s epidemic prevention and control effort and believed that the virus could be contained very soon.
Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation President Sergei Katyrin expressed his sympathies to China’s fight against the COVID-19 and believed that the decisive actions taken by the Chinese government would contain the spread of the epidemic. He also said “We would like to express our sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims of this epidemic and wish all the patients a speedy recovery.”
Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) Chairman Amurskaya said in the letter “We firmly believe that China, with the efficient leadership of its central and local governments and the concerted efforts of its people, will contain the spread of the epidemic soon.”
