China-Britain Business Council Chief Executive Matthew Rous sent a letter to CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan, on behalf of the whole council, expressing his sympathies and support for China’s fight against COVID-19.
Matthew Rous said, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and President Xi “spoke by telephone about the campaign to bring the virus under control. In the name of the British government and people, Prime Minister Johnson conveyed to President Xi his sympathy and high appreciation for the comprehensive measures which are being taken to control the outbreak and to share information with the international community.”
On behalf of the members and employees of China-Britain Business Council, Matthew Rous expressed his appreciation to Chinese people for their unremitting efforts during the outbreak and especially to the front-line medical staff for their courageous and fearless work. China-Britain Business Council firmly believes that “China will emerge stronger from this experience and that China-British relations will continue to grow and prosper.” He added, “I send you my best wishes for the safety, health and well-being of all Chinese people.”
Founded in 1953, China-Britain Business Council is a non-profit economic and trade promotion organization jointly supported by the British government and the business community. Its main task is to boost bilateral trade and economic and technological cooperation between China and the UK. It has more than 1000 member enterprises, including British enterprises in various fields and leading Chinese enterprises.
