Since the outbreak of COVID-19, CCPIT has been active in enhancing services to foreign-funded enterprises. Through conducting targeted research, providing various types of consultation services, etc., CCPIT has helped foreign-funded enterprises cope with the impact of the epidemic and provided aid to stablize foreign investment.
On February 18, CCPIT Department of Development Research and Trade Promotion Center co-hosted a video symposium with U.S.-funded enterprises to get a better knowledge of the difficulties the enterprises were facing, and relevant appeals and suggestions raised under the influence of the COVID-19. Representatives from six companies, including Tesla, Procter and Gamble China, Cisco, Coca-Cola, SAIC-GM and Dell Technology Group, attended the online discussion.
Representatives of the participating enterprises said that the outbreak of the COVID-19 had affected various aspects such as the production and operation, personnel management, capital flow, industrial chain and supply chain. Therefore, it was hoped that relevant government agencies and financial institutions could consider and provide supportive measures through policy formulation and implementation, in the areas of fiscal, tax and credit, as well as help establish communication mechanisms between upstream and downstream enterprises to overcome the difficulties together.
In addition, during the outbreak of the epidemic, CCPIT Commercial Certification Center and the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China established a cooperation mechanism to provide efficient and high-quality service on factual proof of force majeure to foreign-funded enterprises which were members or within the outreach of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China by sending online training videos and materials on business promotion and guide, together with arranging professional personnel to answer questions in a timely way. The service has been highly praised among the foreign-funded enterprises in China.
CCPIT will continue to carry out a combination of measures to make steady progress in stabilizing foreign investment. The surveys and communications with foreign business and industry associations will be intensified to reflect in time difficulties and jams which foreign-funded enterprises encountered during the epidemic prevention and control period, as well as related policy recommendations. In addition, CCPIT will conduct research to evaluate overall impact of the epidemic on business environment in China, and include indicators of impacts of the epidemic on enterprises and industries to the research of China’s business environment in the year 2020.
