CCPIT Overseas Representative Offices Pool Anti-COVID-19 Efforts

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, CCPIT overseas representative offices have taken active actions to find medical supplies much needed in China and coordinate local Chinese enterprises to donate, pooling anti-COVID-19 efforts to contribute to the prevention and control of the COVID-19.

CCPIT Representative Office in Japan has organized Chinese Enterprise Association in Japan to vigorously raise medical supplies to support epidemic-hit areas. As the bureau of affairs of Chinese Enterprise Association in Japan, CCPIT Representative Office in Japan has called on member enterprises to actively contribute to the fight against the epidemic. Member enterprises have tried their best to procure medical supplies to support epidemic-hit areas. A “green channel” has been opened up, through which medical supplies can be delivered to medics in shortest possible time. The first batch of supplies raised by the CCPIT Representative Office in Japan, including 150,000 surgical masks, arrived in Shanghai on February 1. The second batch of materials worth about 1.85 million yen, including protective clothing, N95 masks and medical protective masks, will be sent to Wuhan soon.

CCPIT Representative Office in the UK has fully utilize overseas channels to expand overseas supply sources and innovated ideas to set up a WeChat Group called “Wuhan Jiayou” to collect anti-epidemic materials. It also established a team of 17 volunteers to search for supplies for Chinese companies and business associations in the UK in urgent need of anti-epidemic materials, and provide them integrated and whole-process services such as material supply and demand matching, product specification consultation, logistics and customs clearance.

CCPIT Representative Office in Canada has also acted quickly to communicate with suppliers, recommended by its counterparts and partners, about the specifications, prices, supply cycle and other information of medical supplies. Learning the demand for related products of designated hospitals like Wuhan Union Hospital and visiting supplier’s warehouses, it finally bought 20,000 N95 surgical masks and 4,000 protective suits. Then, it contacted airlines and freight forwarders to communicate how the materials can be quickly delivered to domestic units.

The epidemic has also received widespread attention from the Polish business community. Many Polish companies have expressed their willingness to donate to CCPIT Representative Office in Poland. On the proposal of CPC committee of Chinese embassy in Poland, Chinese embassy in Poland, CCPIT Representative Office in Poland and Air China Business Office in Warsaw have jointly set up a Poland donation work group, and CCPIT Representative Office in Poland is responsible for leading Poland's donation to China. Up to now, CCPIT Representative Office in Poland has successfully organized two batches of donated materials to be sent to China. The first batch of 100,000 disposable surgical masks has arrived in Wuhan and been donated to Hubei Provincial Hospital of TCM. The second batch of 100,000 surgical masks has also been shipped to China and donated to Suixian County Hospital of TCM.

As the secretariat of China Chamber of Commerce in Australia (CCCA), CCPIT Representative Office in Australia has called on CCCA members to donate to jointly fight against the domestic epidemic, which has received positive response. CCPIT Representative Office in Australia has mobilized its local branches, industry committees and member units to actively search for much-needed medical supplies meeting domestic standards. It has also contacted institutions and hospitals accepting overseas donations in Wuhan, Hubei and other provinces and cities, and coordinated with airlines, logistics enterprises, Wuhan Municipal Commerce Bureau, Huanggang Municipal Commerce Bureau and other units to actively procure materials and arrange transportation. Its member units have voluntarily donated masks, cotton pads for disinfection, medical isolation clothing, goggles, protective shoe covers, thermometers, etc., which have been donated to Hubei Charity Federation, Red Cross Society of China, Hebei Branch and related hospitals in Hubei and Shandong.

In addition, CCPIT representative offices in Gulf Region, Germany, the US, Mexico, France, Italy, Belgium, Russia, South Korea, Singapore, Brazil, Costa Rica, Indonesia, India, Chile, Thailand, Egypt, Austria and Switzerland have also actively coordinated local Chinese enterprises to find medical supplies and transport them to China to support the domestic fight against the epidemic.

As of February 14, CCPIT overseas representative offices had assisted domestic enterprises in contacting 281 foreign suppliers of medical supplies, and organized and coordinated 507 local Chinese enterprises, institutions and individuals to donate, raising epidemic prevention funds and materials equivalent to 127.82 million yuan, which comprise cash up to 3.56 million yuan and supplies worth 124.26 million yuan, mainly including 13.2 million surgical masks, 2.32 million pairs of medical gloves, 1.6 million pieces of protective clothing, 30,000 pairs of goggles, 100,000 pieces of medical protective hats, 35,000 pairs of protective boots, 70,000 cotton pads for disinfection, 10,000 pieces of disposable operating clothing and other medical protective supplies.
