CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan Met with Singapore’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Lui Tuck Yew

CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan met with Lui Tuck Yew, Singapore’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China in Beijing. The two sides discussed in depth topics including further strengthening Sino-Singapore economic and trade communication, promoting cooperation between companies of the two sides to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative, deepening cooperation in the field of international commercial law, jointly promoting regional economic integration and safeguarding the multilateral trading system.

Gao Yan said, “In recent years, Sino-Singapore economic and trade cooperation has maintained a sound momentum and has achieved fruitful results in both intergovernmental projects and local cooperation. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Singapore diplomatic ties. CCPIT is willing to work with its counterpart in Singapore to further promote high-quality co-construction of the Belt and Road Initiative between the business communities of the two countries, expand cooperation in third-party markets, deepen cooperation in the field of international commercial law, and strengthen cooperation between business circles of the two sides under the APEC multilateral mechanism, so as to to jointly promote the development of bilateral economic and trade relations and the economic prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region.”

Lui Tuck Yew said, “Sino-Singapore economic and trade cooperation has been further improved and upgraded, and the two sides have deepened their cooperation in such areas as ecological environment protection and commercial law. Singapore is willing to work with China to safeguard free trade and multilateral trading system, conduct more pragmatic cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, work together to ensure the early signing of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) in 2020, and support the the business communities of both countries to scale up bilateral and APEC cooperation.”

Officials from CCPIT Department of Development Research, Department of Trade and Investment Promotion, Department of International Relations, Department of Legal Affairs and CCOIC Department of Cooperation and Development were in attendance.
