CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan met with President of Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Chairperson of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Gao Yan met with Marday Venkatasamy, President of Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) in Port Louis on July 23. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening exchanges and cooperation and further promoting China-Mauritius economic and trade ties.

Gao Yan said, China and Mauritius enjoy deep friendship. The industrial structures of the two countries have respective characteristics and advantages, thus the two countries are complementary in economies and bear great potentials for cooperation. Since the signing of the MoU, the two agencies have had frequent exchanges, and have cooperated closely in terms of group visits, commercial legal services and capacity building.

“The two sides shall expand the cooperation fields in the future, promote enterprises to continuously tap the cooperation potentials in financial services, trade, logistics, information and communication, maritime economy and others, and contribute to boosting bilateral economic and trade ties,” added Gao.

Marday Venkatasamy said, Mauritius is a country of Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and a member country of Southern African Development Community (SADC). Mauritius is willing to give full play to its advantages and assist Chinese enterprises in developing markets in South East Africa and other parts of African continent.

“MCCI attaches great importance to the trade arbitration services for the Chinese and African business communities. We have set up an arbitration center and are willing to organize a large-scale delegation of entrepreneurs to attend the Second China International Import Expo. We hope to take advantage of this opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC),” added Marday.

Also present at the forum were heads of CCPIT Department of Development Research, Department of International Relations and Training Center.
