China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Chairperson Gao Yan attended Mauritius-China Business Forum 2019 in Port Louis, Mauritius on July 23. Sun Gongyi, Chinese Ambassador to Mauritius, Nandcoomar Bodha, Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, François Guibert, Chief Executive Officer of Economic Development Board Mauritius, Marday Venkatasamy, President of Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) attended and addressed the forum. Nearly 200 representatives of business community from China and Mauritius participated in the forum.
Gao Yan noted, China and Mauritius enjoy deep friendship, so do the people. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, bilateral ties have maintained sound and smooth, much has been achieved in political mutual trust and economic and trade cooperation.
“I would like to make three proposals on strengthening business cooperation: first, we will invest in innovative industries and expand cooperation areas; second, we will promote financial cooperation; last but not least, we will strengthen tourism cooperation and boost cultural exchanges,” added Gao.
Nandcoomar Bodha said, the Mauritius government is taking measures to make favorable policies, improve business environment, and strive to build Mauritius into a regional trade, transportation and financial hub as a bridge connecting Asia and Africa. Mauritius attaches great importance to economic and trade cooperation with China and welcomes Chinese investment in Mauritius.
Sun Gongyi noted, China and Mauritius enjoy deep friendship. Mauritius’ great geographical location is a natural extension of Belt and Road Initiative. China will continue its reform and opening up and unswervingly implement the mutual benefit strategy of opening up.
“We welcome all countries in the world, including Mauritius, to participate into China's economic development and share opportunities in the Chinese market,” added Sun.
Also present at the forum were heads of CCPIT Department of Development Research, Department of International Relations and Training Center.
