2019-06-28

CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan met with CEO of Italian Trade Agency (ITA) Roberto Luongo in Rome on June 20. The two sides exchanged ideas on fostering cooperation between the two agencies and promoting practical cooperation between the Chinese and Italian business communities.

Gao Yan noted, under the leadership and efforts of the two heads of state, the economic and trade cooperation between China and Italy is continuously improving. As the expanding middle class has huge demands for high-end products, hi-tech products, fashion and designer products as well as special agri-products made in Italy, there is huge potential for cooperation between the two sides in the third-party market.

“The Chinese government rolled out a slate of policies and measures for further opening up in efforts to improve business environment, support trade and investment liberalization and facilitation and advocate open world economic development. CCPIT is willing to deepen cooperation with ITA, exchange information and visits, provide commercial and legal services for companies and increase cooperation in personnel training,” added Gao.

Roberto said, the cooperation between ITA and CCPIT can be traced far back and has achieved fruitful results. Italy has advantages in manufacturing and high technologies, etc and hopes to expand trade and two-way investment with China. During President Xi’s visit to Italy, the two governments signed the memorandum of understanding on jointly promoting the Belt and Road construction, charting the course for the development of China-Italy economic and trade relations and will greatly promote the two sides’ cooperation in more areas. ITA is delighted to enhance cooperation with CCPIT so as to provide more support to the economic and trade cooperation between China and Italy with the view of implementing the important consensus reached by the two heads of state.

The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation after the meeting.

Also present at the meeting were heads of CCPIT Department of Development Research and Department of International Relations.
