The “Shandong Day” of the Expo 2019 Beijing opened on June 20. Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of Shandong Provincial CPC Committee and Governor of Shandong Province, declared the opening of the “Shandong Day”. Lu Pengqi, Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Wang Zhaocheng, Vice Chairman of China Flower Association, Lu Yan, Deputy Mayor of Beijing, Teshome Toga, Ethiopian Ambassador to China, and Massimo Bagnasco, Vice President of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China attended and addressed the ceremony.

Lu Pengqi said, Shandong Province has always attached great importance to participating in expos and has successfully held Shandong Week theme events at Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea, Expo 2015 Milano, and Expo 2017 Astana, showcasing its vitality and business opportunities to the world.

“I hope Shandong Province can make good use of Expo 2019 Beijing to actively carry out economic and trade negotiations, tourism promotion and cultural performances to fully display its comprehensive strength and development prospects, and present a splendid feast to domestic and foreign visitors,” added Lu.

Various activities such as project promotion, economic and trade exchanges, cultural and arts performances and exhibition of intangible cultural heritage were held during the “Shandong Day” celebration.
