Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Lu Pengqi met with Anilkumar Padarath Jayant, President of Suriname Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKF), and Robert Ameerali, former Vice President of Suriname, in Paramaribo, capital of Suriname, on June 9, and renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Suriname Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Liu Quan, Chinese Ambassador to Suriname, Chen Zongwei, Chinese Commercial Counselor to Suriname, and Stephen Tsang, Suriname’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, were in attendance and witnessed the signing.
Lu Pengqi said, Suriname is an important partner of China in the Caribbean region.
“In recent years, high-level exchanges between the two countries have become more and more frequent, and economic and trade cooperation has been continuously upgraded. KKF is an important counterpart of CCPIT, and the renewal of the MoU is a new starting point for the two sides to strengthen cooperation. I hope the two sides will achieve practical results in institutional cooperation, information exchange and sharing, mutual visits by business groups and promotion of key industries,” added Lu.
Jayant extended his welcome to Lu Pengqi and his delegation, and hoped the two sides can further enhance cooperation to encourage more Chinese companies to visit and invest in Suriname.
After the meeting, Lu Pengqi held talks with Stephen Tsang, exchanging views on jointly promoting China-Suriname economic and trade ties and strengthening exchanges and cooperation.
