The “Zhejiang Day” of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing (Expo 2019 Beijing) was held on June 6. Zhu Congjiu, Deputy Governor of Zhejiang Province, Yu Jianlong, Vice Commissioner of the Expo 2019 and Secretary-General of China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC), Steen Christensen, President of Bureau International des Expositions, and Tim Briercliffe, Secretary-General of International Association of Horticultural Producers, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Gao Yi, Deputy Secretary-General of Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government, hosted the opening ceremony.

Yu Jianlong said, as the birthplace of the “two mountains” theory (green mountains and lucid waters are mountains of gold and silver), Zhejiang has always been at the forefront of China in green development and ecological conservation. “Programs, ‘green Zhejiang’, ‘beautiful Zhejiang’, and ‘big garden’, have yield fruitful results, and ecological agriculture, industry and services are thriving. China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) has maintained a good cooperative relationship with Zhejiang Province. The two sides have done a lot in strengthening cooperation with the rest of the world and promoting trade and investment through establishing mechanisms and platforms. Events co-hosted by the two sides such as the B20 Summit and large-scale national exhibitions are quite successful and have been praised by all parties,” added Yu.

As a three-day event centering round the theme of “green life, picturesque Zhejiang”, Zhejiang Day publicized its achievements in ecological conservation and opening-up, and showcased its ecological, cultural and tourism resources through culture and arts performances, exhibitions of intangible cultural heritages, interactive tours, promotion of culture and tourism, and forums with participants from home and abroad.
