A seminar on the third-party market cooperation between China and Japan was held in Bangkok on April 2. The seminar was co-hosted by CCPIT and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and assisted by the Office of Eastern Economic Corridor of Thailand. The seminar was attended by Chinese ambassador to Thailand Lv Jian, Japanese ambassador to Thailand Shiro Sadoshima, Deputy Director of the Department of Development Research of CCPIT Yu Haiyan, Director-General of Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Ishikawa Masaki and Secretary-General of Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand Kanit Sangsubhan as well as about 300 people from business and industrial community of China, Japan and Thailand.
According to Ambassador Lv Jian, the third-party market cooperation between China and Japan has gained attention from leaders of both China and Japan and has been well responded and supported by Thailand. Thailand 4.0 Strategy is in alignment with the Chinese opening up strategy and third-party cooperation. With the respective advantages of China and Japan in capital, technology and talents, etc, there is a broad prospect for cooperation between the two countries in Thailand. Lv said, the seminar provides a platform for cooperation among companies in China, Japan and Thailand and hopes the three countries can complement each other through close cooperation to promote the economic development of Thailand and the region.
Ambassador Shiro Sadoshima noted, Thailand has favorable conditions in taking part in the third-party market cooperation between China and Japan, and the Eastern Economic Corridor of Thailand has a great potential for development. He suggested companies in these three countries grasp the historic opportunity to deepen mutually-beneficial cooperation to achieve triple-win results.
Yu Haiyan suggested, the business and industrial community of China, Japan and Thailand should further deepen cooperation, create favorable conditions for cooperation, enhance information exchanges and sharing to better play the role as a trade promotion agency in an effort to build the cooperative model of “industry + technology + capital + market” with the view of making the Eastern Economic Corridor a demonstration zone for China-Japan third-market cooperation.
Ishikawa Masaki pointed out, the seminar co-hosted by CCPIT and JETRO, is an important measure for implementing the third-party cooperation between China and Japan. He added, Japan is willing to work with China to step up coordination and cooperation in the third-party markets like Thailand to carry out cooperation in accordance with international norms for win-win results under the principle of openness and transparency.
Kanit conveyed his gratitude to Chinese and Japanese leaders for their tremendous support and promotion of third-party cooperation. He said, China and Japan signed cooperation MOU respectively with Thailand, which have greatly enhanced Thai economic development. According to him, Thai leaders attach high importance to the third-party market cooperation and Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand will continue to provide support and service to companies so as to facilitate the deepening of practical cooperation in the construction of high-speed railway, airport and other infrastructure among companies of three countries.
Companies from China, Japan and Thailand also had discussions on conducting cooperation in Thailand and key cooperation areas in the future as well as cooperation in logistics, energy, environment and smart city, etc. After the seminar, companies from the three countries promoted and discussed cooperation on their respective key cooperation projects.
