CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan met with Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macao Leong Vai Tac

CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan met Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Special Administrative Region of Macao Leong Vai Tac in Macao on May 14. The two sides exchanged opinions on the topics of Macao’s participation into the national development strategy, developing the platform for economic and trade co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, increasing trade and economic ties between Chinese mainland and Macao as well as promoting Macao’s moderately diversified development.

Gao Yan said, as Macao has the advantage of adopting the system of “One Country, Two Systems”  and having natural connections with Portuguese-speaking countries, there is a lot Macao can do in increasing the economic and trade exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking countries as well as the construction of the “Belt and Road”. Macao shall join hands with mainland companies to expand the international market and contribute to high-quality opening up by seizing the opportunity of the “Belt and Road” Initiative and the development of Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and taking full advantage of the platform of Forum Macao. CCPIT will continue to bring into play its own advantages to collaborate closely with the Secretariat for Economy and Finance to support and assist Macao in realizing all its development goals.

Leong Vai Tac noted, Macao has made rapid progress in the development of China-Portugal financial services platform, arbitration center and Renminbi settlement service. Macao attaches great importance to the construction of “Belt and Road” and China-Portugal business cooperation platform and looks forward to more mainland companies going global through Macao to continuously expand the international market. He hoped CCPIT will continue to support the task of Macao Special Administrative Region and provide assistance to the achievement of all development goals of Macao.

Also present at the meeting were heads of CCPIT Department of Development Research, Department of International Relations, Enterprise Service Center for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, Training Center and Representative Office in Macao.
