A joint meeting for chambers of commerce between Chinese mainland and Macao was held in Macao on May 14. CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan attended the meeting.

Gao Yan noted, the joint meeting has become an important platform for exchange between the commerce and business communities of Chinese mainland and Macao with the continuous improvement of the cooperation system, expansion of cooperation areas and remarkable improvement of social influence. According to Gao, with the official release of the “Outline Development Plan for Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, Macao’s development direction is becoming clear. CCPIT will enhance cooperation with Macao to promote the inclusion of Macao into the development plan of the country and support Macao in its efforts to build “One Center, One Platform and One Base” to realize high-quality development on the basis of deepened cooperation and that CCPIT will continue to bring its advantages into full play to facilitate the development of a moderately diversified Macao economy.

Acting President of the Board of Directors of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute Irene Va Kuan Lau said, as the development of the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay provides new opportunities for Macao, the commerce and business community of Macao shall respond to the needs of the country, take full advantage of Macao’s favorable conditions to participate in the construction of the “Belt and Road” and the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay and work together with the business community of Chinese mainland to “go global” and explore the international market by making breakthroughs with Portuguese-speaking countries.

The topics of increasing cooperation with Macao business community, jointly building the world-class bay area were discussed. Suggestions were made by heads of Macao Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Association of Macao, Macao Importers & Exporters Association, Macao Textile Merchants Association and Macao Shipper's Association as well as CCPIT Sub-councils of Guangdong Province, Guangzhou City, Shenzhen City, Huizhou City, Foshan City and Dongguan City.

Prior to the meeting, Memorandum of Understanding on Talent Development and Training was signed between CCPIT Training Center and Macao Convention and Macao Fair & Trade Association witnessed by Gao Yan and Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macao Leong Vai Tac.
