An international conference on commercial dispute resolution between China and Singapore was held in Beijing on January 24.
The conference, co-hosted by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the Ministry of Law of Singapore, invited CCPIT Chairperson Gao Yan, Singapore Senior Minister of State for Law and Health Edwin Tong and Luo Dongchuan, vice-president of the Supreme People’s Court of China to deliver speeches. The conference was presided over by CCPIT Vice Chairman Lu Pengqi.
Gao Yan noted, Singapore is an important partner in the Belt and Road international cooperation. The two countries have explored cooperation patterns in commercial and legal sectors. Both sides shall conduct more practical cooperation in commercial dispute resolution.
Luo Dongchuan said, the Supreme People’s Court of China has set up international commercial courts in Shenzhen and Xi’an, which will enhance exchanges and promote cooperation with Singapore’s international commercial court in the future.
Meanwhile, experts from both countries discussed about lawsuit, arbitration, mediation and reconciliation.
Also, a series legal research works for the Belt and Road countries, compiled by CCPIT was issued at the conference. CCPIT Mediation Center and Singapore International Mediation Center signed a MoU on the joint establishment of the Belt and Road countries mediator lists.
