Varela toured exposition kiosks, learnt about Chinese investment in Panama, advantageous businesses and market potentials. He came to the BYD electric vehicle and experienced the security control system. He interacted with exhibitors through a translation machine developed by a Chinese technology company. Varela said, it is of great significance for CCPIT to host the China brand exposition during President Xi Jinping’s historic visit to Panama. Panama hoped to foster cooperation with China in trade, investment and finance. Panama expected Chinese enterprises to make use of Panama’s location advantage to explore Latin American market and apply advanced technologies into Panama’s infrastructure construction. The country also welcomed Chinese companies to invest in water supply projects in western Panama, railway construction projects and economic development zones.

“Although the visit of Chinese president Xi Jinping to Panama is short but we have had deep exchanges, which marks the new starting point of the bilateral relations. The free trade negotiation between Panama and China is of great significance to Panama. We strongly support the negotiation,” added Varela.
