A legal forum on the import promotion and legal cooperation was held at Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SUIBE) on November 6. The forum was hosted by CCPIT in parallel with the First China International Import Expo (CIIE).

CCPIT Vice President Lu Pengqi, SUIBE President Zhu Guohong and President of Shanghai Law Society Cui Yadong made remarks at the forum. Keynotes speeches were delivered by Zhou Hanmin, Member of the Standing Committee of CPPCC and Vice Chairman of China National Democratic Construction Association and President of InvestUSA Committee Scott Douglas Williams. Revolving around the topics of IP protection as well as disputes prevention and resolution, the forum was attended by over 200 guests from the Chinese and international legal community, universities and companies.

Lu noted, the forum was aimed at building a platform of exchange and cooperation in legal affairs between China and countries participating in the CIIE as well as providing legal guidance to Chinese and foreign companies on trade and investment cooperation. He also stressed the importance of stepping up IP protection, legal consultation and training as well as prevention of international commercial disputes.

During the forum, a MoU on cooperation was signed between the Legal Affairs Department of CCPIT and SUIBE and research results on laws of “Belt and Road” countries were released.
