CCPIT Vice President Lu Pengqi Attended International Conference on the 60th Anniversary of the New York Convention and UN Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation

CCPIT Vice Chairman Lu Pengqi attended and made remarks at the International Conference on the 60th Anniversary of the New York Convention and UN Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation on November 3rd. The seminar was co-hosted by CCPIT and United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) and undertaken by the Legal Affairs Department of CCPIT, University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) and Chinese Arbitration Law Association (CAAL). The seminar was also attended by Secretary of UIBE Party Committee Jiang Qingzhe and UNCITRAL Secretary General Anna.

According to Lu Pengqi, the New York Convention and Mediation Convention both played a significant role in promoting international business arbitration and mediation where the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC) and Mediation Center under CCPIT have been important players. CCPIT also proposed the idea of preventing disputes. CCPIT is willing to work together with all sides in promoting relevant conventions, jointly building platforms for legal exchange, exploring mechanisms for solving international business disputes so as to contribute China’s part to the formation of international rules.

Over 200 representatives from the Chinese and international academic and business communities attended the seminar.
