The Belt and Road Forum on Commercial Legal Environment was held in Xi’an on May 11. This forum was hosted by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government.
Member of the Standing Committee of Shaanxi Provincial Committee Du Hangwei delivered a speech in the opening ceremony and noted, Shaanxi attaches great importance to the legal construction of commercial cooperation, devotes to build an international commercial dispute prevention mechanism and enriches international dispute settlement channels. He hoped that the forum can provide a more effective commercial legal system for the cooperation between countries and regions along the Belt and Road.
Vice Chairman of CCPIT Lu Pengqi said, CCPIT is willing to strengthen legal cooperation and resource sharing with industrial and commercial institution, build a commercial legal service platform together, dedicate to providing enterprises with a full range of professional business legal services and to safeguard the rights and interests of enterprises.
The UK’s Minister of State for Trade and Export Promotion at the Department for International Trade (DIT) Baroness Rona Fairhead said, her country will bring the advantages in international trade, international law and international arbitration fields, actively participate in the construction of the Belt and Road international commercial law, maintain an open and inclusive global trading system along with China.
Deputy Secretary of Ministry of Law of Singapore Han Kok Juan said, this forum dedicated to promoting intergovernmental cooperation as well as bring new opportunities for the development of enterprises. Singapore is willing to build a set of credible dispute settlement mechanism for foster the Belt and Road Initiative along with China and other countries.
Vice President of Northwest University of Political Science and Law Wang Han on the behalf of experts at home and abroad gave a keynote speech around the Belt and Road international legal concept, global order reform and China participation, enhance the training of legal talents and innovation in legislation.
Deputy Director of CCPIT Department of Legal Affairs Liu Chao issued Legal Research Report of the Belt and Road Countries, including Israel, Syria, Poland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Palestine, Bulgaria and so on, and signed the cooperation framework agreement on the behalf of CCPIT Department of Legal Affairs, China University of Political and Science and Law School of International Law and China Arbitration Institution.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Chairman of CCPIT Shaanxi Sub-Council Xue Hua. More than 180 participants from Belt and Road countries and regions were in attendance. They discuss the topics like the construction of the Belt and Road international commercial disputes settlement mechanism, the Belt and Road international arbitration and judicial cooperation and legal environment construction for the Belt and Road pilot free trade zone.
At the closing ceremony, they issued Special Summary & Xi’an Declaration Joint Issuance, declaring to promote the Belt and Road commercial legal cooperation, to build international commercial dispute settlement mechanism as well as the Belt and Road commercial law environment construction.
