2018 China Import Expo Kunshan(CIE) and the 7th World Business Leaders (Kunshan) Conference kicked off in Kunshan on May 16.

The three-day event, themed at “Innovative Development and Win-win Cooperation”, focused on advanced technologies, key equipment and emerging industries prioritized by China’s 13th Five-year Plan.

Covering a total exhibition area of 50,000 square meters, the 2018 CIE included three exhibition zones: intelligent manufacturing, semiconductor & optoelectronics, as well as electrical and electronic equipment & key parts and components, which attracted around 30,000 professional visitors.

On the sidelines of the expo, a number of other important events were held, including the 7th World Business Leaders (Kunshan) Conference and the 2018 US-China (Kunshan) Forum for Intelligent Manufacturing Cooperation, as well as various business activities that will feature the presence of interested corporate users and face-to-face interaction between foreign and domestic buyers and suppliers.

When addressing the opening ceremony of the expo, Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Chen Zhou said, China’s economic development has entered a new era, from the stage of high speed growth to high quality. Currently, five development ideas, which focus on innovation, harmony, green, open and sharing have been put into practice.

“I make three proposals. First, we need to further promote trade liberalization and facilitation in the Belt and Road international cooperation. Second, we need to strengthen IPR protection and create good business environment. Last but not least, we need to speak for the business community and safeguard a fair and just international market order,” added Chen.

The China Import Expo Kunshan is the only nation-level international import trade fair approved by China’s State Council for Jiangsu Province. This year’s fair has been the seventh expo since its inception in 2012.
